Some 83.7 million square metres of Abu Dhabi are now covered by lawns, flower beds and vegetation, according to municipal figures.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality planned 130 parks across the island and mainland between 2014 and 2017, while expanding green spaces, street landscaping and the use of native plants that need less irrigation.
The city and its suburbs now count more than 588,000 trees, with further parks and play areas scheduled in line with the Abu Dhabi 2030 plan.
